Focused on line, shape, color, and texture, this workshop investigates the world of abstract painting. The work of Julie Mehretu, Emmi Whitehorse, Agnes Martin, and Frank Stella provide inspiration throughout the week. Students learn how to simplify the surrounding world to create an abstract image, as well as more expressive and geometric approaches. Pieces are completed using colored pencils, markers, inks, watercolor, tempera paint, and mixed media.
