The Gallery

The Guenzel Gallery is at the heart of PenArt. It is the first space visitors encounter from the main entrance and the hub from which each wing of the school extends. It is a place for students and community members to connect and experience world-class contemporary art. Inspired by the historic round barns of the area, the gallery is a light-filled, ten-sided space with two levels of clerestory windows. Hand-hewn pine logs rise twenty-four feet to support a radial, tongue and groove, red cedar ceiling topped by a cupola. At the ground level, the gallery walls are backed with plywood to support heavy works of art.
